There are people one like, and people one dislike. Some conversations are acceptable by friendly or neutral relationships, but unacceptable by awkward and disliked relationships. It's not too hard to understand all these, but some of them just don't get it. Perhaps they are just too self centered and full of themselves to get the idea. Who knows. One can never truly understand the minds of the narcissistic.
