Singapore Flyer!

At long last, I managed to take that Singapore Flyer ride that had been schedule on my birthday last year, but delayed due to the shutting down of the flyer after an incident on the 23rd of Dec 2008. Today was quite a nice day too, with it being the last day of March.

Anyways, I had two tickets for a Signature flight, which is supposedly a special flight with some souveniors and a cocktail drink. All that for almost twice the price of a normal ticket. But it doesn't really matter, since my tickets were complementary.

I went with my family down to the Singapore Flyer for dinner at this place called Popeyes Place, where they serve food that is something like that of KFC. Meaning that they specialise in chicken, and biscuits, supposedly. The food is a tad more expensive than that of KFC, but it was not as oily and more palatable.

The flyer was quite empty today, with quite a number of capsules going up with only one group of people each, even when a group had no more than 2 people. The same applies for us too, since our tickets were special. I took the ride with my father, and the staff there appeared to have noticed us from afar, with them coming over to greet us and guide us along to the ride. Something like a VIP sort of thingie. Must be the lanyards and cards that they have us wear too, so that they can identify us from afar.

At first, I was a bit frightened, as I have acrophobia, or a fear of heights. But the ride was rather slow and steady, and the capsule was big, so I slowly calmed down and could look around and enjoy the view and sights. Thankfully my father was with me too, if not I'll be far too scared to do anything.

We took pictures of both us, and also the night scenery, and enjoyed our cocktail drinks on the ride. Or at least I did enjoy the drinks. My father was a bit reluctant to drink too much, in case he needs the toilet, but I didn't cared too much and drank all of mine, and also my father's. My drink tasted a lot like normal fruit punch, without any much of a taste of alcohol, but my father's drink had a strong taste of alcohol in it. Thanks to that, I think I drank too much alcohol (I rarely drink.) and felt a bit drowsy and heavy-headed after coming down.

All in all, I must say that the ride is indeed something to go for if you haven't been on it yet, just so that you can enjoy the view of looking around Singapore and the horizon from a height of 165m. But it's unlikely for me to go on it again, as the ride itself was rather boring, with nothing much to do other than to look around and take photos. But then again, that's the purpose of such rides in the first place.
